Tom, try keeping the overhand knot as close to the hook eye to get smaller loops.Good video. I was freaking last summer because it seemed my loops kept getting bigger and bigger. I like a small loop for aesthetics, but I'm not convinced it matters to the fish I get to chase. Two days ago I noticed them getting big again, but it didn't matter.

I need to focus on that. Sometimes I shake a bit, sometimes I'm cold, sometimes just not paying attention.Tom, try keeping the overhand knot as close to the hook eye to get smaller loops.
The disadvantage to a larger loop is that you can occasionally foul your fly and not know it.
At 73, I'm with you.I need to focus on that. Sometimes I shake a bit, sometimes I'm cold, sometimes just not paying attention.
That's how I do it.I always thought it was supposed to be three twists and only three.

I do five.That's how I do it.
Edit: I guess maybe three is only enough for the small fish I catch. This site says "about five times"
Non-Slip Mono Knot
The Non-Slip Mono makes a very strong fixed loop in the end of the fishing line. Because the loop doesn't grip the lure, it makes a flexible attachment and allows a more natural action.www.animatedknots.com
I do 4-5 depending on how big of tippet. I think usually it’s anything below 12lb is 5 and above is 4I do five.
Easy way to remember is you're just doing an Improved Clinch where the knot hole is your eyelet.
