I have a Dakota 283 crate. Really stout, very heavy and can be strapped down in the bed of the truck. Have a 75 lb lab and use the XL. Use it as a sleeping crate so full of pads when go upland hunting. They are spendy, but sometimes they have scratch and dent sales and you can get a good deal...
Good idea to be thinking about what’s to come. A few thoughts
* plan on doing something as soon as you retire that will allow you to forget work. That could be moving into a new house or going on a vacation. At the end of that activity you will likely find you have made a good transition away...
I’m another one who cooks it like Zak. 130 degree internal, cover and rest, thin cut across grain. Perfect every time. Never any leftovers. The rub is instant espresso, chocolate powder, cayenne pepper and a couple of other spices.

I’ve got an Epic 370 (7’ 3wt) that is an absolute blast to fish. Sweet casting and has handled browns up to 16” very well. I built it from a kit which was fun. If looking to buy a prebuilt rod check out Graywolf rods https://www.graywolfrods.com/for-sale excellent reputation.
My son recommends Nostrana. Never been there myself, but he eats at high end places all over the country so trust his judgement on a recommendation.
