That was right when I volunteered to make a quick grocery run on my bike. One of those crosswind gusts nearly took me down, and my eyes got filled with crap from all the dust being kicked up.
I picked up a three piece Okuma SST; 7'6", Medium Heavy Action, 10-20# line wt, 3/8-1.5oz lure wt for exactly that purpose. It wasn't very expensive; probably in the $120 range, and is quite a decent rod. 'Heavy enough for PS salmon and (?) most of what you are likely to run into on Baja beaches.
I am on the waitlist for the 9/11 outing; meanwhile, if anyone is aware of other open seats for a fly-oriented trip, I'd love to grab that spot.

I have a pair of these that stood up to lots of use, and the zip-front has totally spoiled me- won't own anything else in the future. I'd take these if they were the right size. Excellent deal for someone here!!
