    Those do sound like Daphnia. I was at a west side lake yesterday that has a big population. Invisible until you stick a white paddle in the water and then they are clearly visible in large numbers. About the size of a poppy seed, purple in color, and they have a distinctive darting motion...

    What's your fishing rig?

    Close to home: 2006 TJ Unlimited aka "LJ". Extra 10" of wheelbase vs a regular TJ allows a 29er to fit in the bed, or an 11 foot Hobie inflatable rolled up. I no longer need a fast car because 65 mph feels like 130 mph in this thing. Far from home: 2001 F250 7.3L diesel

    Spotted my first cougar…

    I've been lucky enough to see 8 total on 5 separate occasions over the last 20 years, all on the Snoqualmie tree farm. Mom and 2 kittens, 2 kittens (assume mom was nearby), and 3 singles. Was followed once while X-C skiing but did not see the animal, just the tracks on descent that weren't...
