Nice fish. Doe could have been taking a break from bucks in full rut harrassing her... I've had deer come swimming down the middle of the river I've been fishing.

Lots of whitetail in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and WA. In a lot of areas, they overlap with the Mule Deer.

I started hunting late. Like about 12 years ago. I'm 53, and I feel the time slipping away for some of the more adventurous trips. One reason this season was so special for me. Not sure how many more I got (possibly a lot, but who knows) and my kids aren't really kids anymore. Maybe 10 years...

Thanks for sharing that. Love it when a plan comes together (even if a half-assed plan....). I never thought it was possible, but hunting has surpassed fishing for me. The only thing comparable was getting my first steelhead. But even then, it just doesn't compare to the adrenaline, emotions...

I was in the mountains around Colville over the weekend. Came home Sunday night. Got dumped on at the cabin in Colville Saturday night. About 6 inches. Our hunt was over by that time - I was kinda disappointed, as I love hunting in the snow. The drive over the pass was sketchy. Dumping hard up...

We had a bet going. That if all three of us got a deer, that we could get matching tattoos. I was almost 100% sure that wasn't going to happen. Our luck is usually to not even see a buck. 3? No. And one would have to be a decent buck - they can have a spike, but I won't. Welp, they won. 2...

This hunt meant a lot to me. Next fall they will be off to college. Playing soccer and basketball both. Not sure we'll get this chance again.
