    NFR Humor (No political jokes)

Lena calls the local newspaper and says I vood like to put in a notice. The editor says what would you like to say. She says, I yust vant to say Ole's dead. Oh I'm sorry says the editor but you can put in 5 words for the same price as two. Is there anything else you'd like to say...

    Walla walla fly fishing

I too am curious if Big Willie did any fishing in the Wa2 area. I was there this last weekend visiting an old buddy. Left my fly rods home but did take a drive up the S. fork of the Wa2 river above Milton Firewater (haha) to Harris County Park. There was enough water to fish but minimal...

    tying materials

Here is the czechish nymph that requires golden olive crystal splash. Hard to see golden olive in this photo. Someone mentioned root beer flash and I'll go with that. As Gierach said it's hard to tie a fly that won't catch a fish. As the great Zen master said, "we'll see".

    tying materials

Thanks. It looks like crystal flash for sure. On my way out the door to my wife's annual highschool picnic but will try to take a photo when I'm back. The photo in the book gives me no clue as to the color of the flash which is golden olive by name. A color that my catalogs do not...

    tying materials

Once again I've run into a material in a pattern recipe that I can't find It's in Scott Sadil's book on Pacific Coast flies. The material is crystal SPLASH not crystal flash. He uses it to dress a "czechish nymph". I've looked through my catalogs and tried to google it but the SPLASH...

    NFR What Are You Reading

Pacific Coast Flies and fly fishing......by Scott Sadil. Interesting commentary about flies and how to tie them. If you stop to tie the patterns as you go it takes time to get through it all. About 60 patterns, come old and familiar but many new ones. Having fun with it.

    Walla walla fly fishing

During the late 60's and 70's when I lived in Wa2 we would fish the Tucannon above Marengo bridge or cross the border into Oregon and fish the Walla Walla above Milton Freewater. There used to be a good brown trout fishery on the Toutle up near Dayton but I doubt it exists any more. There's...

    NFR Humor (No political jokes)

Old guy sitting in a bar leans over and says to a younger guy sitting next to him and says I f**ked your mother. Young guy says Go home dad, you're drunk.

NFR Rant: people suck at talking on the phone

I must be the contrarian. I don't have an instrument that allows sending or receiving text msgs nor do I want one. You want to talk to me you have to call me. If I'm on the road driving I won't pick up. I'll return calls when I'm able. Sad story in the paper a few years ago when a...

    coffee cup cake

After thinking about this recipe awhile (not always a good idea) it seems like the perfect dessert for the single guy or gal. Too late for me but not complaining cuz it tastes great and I'm still in love after all these years.

    coffee cup cake

Here's a new recipe my bride was given. Use a coffee cup, a large coffee mug is best. Start with one egg and into it stir the following 2 Tbsp sugar 2 Tbsp milk 2 Tbsp veg oil 2 Tbsp flour (keep stirring) 3 Tbsp cocoa 1 teaspoon baking powder stir it all up and place in microwave one minute...

    NFR Rats.... @#$%ing rats.

Here's a little twist on the rat stories. While in forest service our hotshot team of 14 guys had beds on the 2nd floor of a bunkhouse and we started having what we though were mouse issues. We set out traps nightly that would be tripped and the bait eaten but caught nothing. Used...
