Coach Potter
Life of the Party
As a football coach and archer, I never really had the opportunity to hunt elk while being a WA resident. When we moved to ID in 21 their regulations opened a small window for me to hunt elk while still coaching. The first two seasons it didn't pan out for me to go but a 4-day window opened up last week, and I was able to get it done.
It was a super fun experience that I was able to share it with one of our players who is hunting for the first time. We hunted four days together and we were in elk every day. We had two questionable shot opportunities the first two days that we passed on. In the final minutes of daylight on the final day of the second season we were presented with a chip shot on this bull. We discussed who would take the shot but ultimately, he decided he wanted me to take the shot. It's an experience I'll never forget.
Now it's time to go make a run at winning a state title!
