Scotty fly rod holders

I may be the last one on this list to figure it out… but for those of you still fighting to get your fly rod in and out of a Scotty rod holder, (some reels harder than others) ..just grind down about 1/4” on either side of the opening. Works good, lasts long time!

Interesting new Scotty rod holder you have! Can you put the rod in the holder with one hand? Give us a report on how well you like it.

I did that right after buying mine and laughing at the “fly” aspect failure. Nice mount otherwise, I can hold an indicator on it and work a full sink in my hands.

Or pointed down it trolls a full sink well.

I have both the Berkley (sp) and Scotty models. The Scotty is far more robust but as you noted, they function the same.
