collar/head - deer hair dyed claret

Pretty easy to make the wing (there are lots of videos showing how-to); more durable than the tent-wing, too.

Sort of a copper john variant for the point or heavy dropper position. The hackle will slow the sink rate a bit but I have more faith and success if there is some lifelike movement of materials.

Body - Pearl mylar tubing over shaped muffler tape or substitute

Wing - White bucktail then peacock herl

Collar - Chartreuse hackle

Notes: While walleye isn’t a common target for fly anglers, they will indeed come to the fly. These piscivores can be picked up on streamers and the combination of chartreuse and white can be quite a productive color combination.

Nice looking sparse tie Zak. I tried some with tails, didn't seem to make much difference, they still work great. What has made a notable difference for me is dubbing a tiny tuft of hare's ear just behind the hackle to prop it up and give a slightly buggier look.

I've trolled flies for walleye and stopped using mylar tubing because of teeth damage (in fact for many fish with teeth). I wonder if you used UV epoxy on the piping it could last without affecting the appearance?
