Tuna 2022, let the games begin!

Sorry, that seat to fish for tuna with Nick on Saturday, September 3rd, had now been filled. Thank you for the recommendation, @adamcu280.
Steve
Did I mention I'm jealous? Btw, lurking at the dock this afternoon I saw a couple boats come in with 40+ fish/boat. Ummm... I bought a bigger cooler and a vacuum sealer. Is it tomorrow yet?

Only problem is my body is thrashed from surfing 4-6h/day for the last week. Arms don't fail me now! 😂

Are you one of these guys. Got in a bit early Saturday night for my tuna trip last Sunday and spent a little time enjoying the sunset and watching the surfers.

Nope, I didn't get to Westport until after dark on Sunday.

Today was fun! 34 fish in the boat. We (fellow anglers and I; @Nick Clayton and crew slayed as usual) all blew opportunities to plug the boat but I'm totally thrilled with finally getting the hot bait bite I've wanted since I was a kid.

The "uphill both ways" ride to-from was "fun" and we saw lots of other wildlife. Lags, Dall's, unid rorqual, 2x elephant seals, sooty and pink foot shearwaters, phalaropes, tufted puffin, rhau, black footed albatross, the terns and Sabine's gulls that indicated tuna, Cassin's auklets, fork tail stormies... I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

Adam is a tuna catching machine! So glad you were there to um....pick up some slack? ;)

So glad you got to see some good fishing! Fun day, except for the ride there, the ride back, and some other stuff lol

Thanks for coming out man! Always a fun time having you out on the boat.

Anytime you need someone to say what you can't say just let me know 😂

Also: the bow is a peaceful place to fight a fish.

The last slide is a time lapse of a couple troll strikes/bait stops. If I'm out of frame during a bait stop it's because I'm hooked up on the bow.

Ocean forecast outlook for my Sept 9 date with @Nick Clayton is looking bleak. Just my luck :(

Well, if it gets canceled, here's to hoping I get at least one or two more opportunities for my boat to get out there.

We're booked for the 11th. Where are you getting your forecasts?
Windfinder. Doesn't go quite that far, but the days prior are rough, so there'd be leftover chop/swell for a few days if this materializes.

But just a few weeks ago, I went on a day that was originally looking really, really rough, and got better and better as time got closer. So I have a glimmer of hope.

I would be concerned too if that forecast holds. Looks like Fall is coming.

Yeah, that's the kind of blow that could put the kibosh on the whole season. But it's a month early... it can't happen yet :(

These should show up for all the world to see because my account is not private. At the old place they just showed up as an embedded thing so you didn't even have to click through. This link doesn't work?

They opened for me & I am not on Instagram. Great photos by the way. What a variety of subjects . . . color me jealous and thanks for sharing!

Might end up getting blown off the water a few days, who knows. Weather patterns change quickly. No worries about it being the end of the season though. We see this sort of thing every September.

We've also been fishing well north of Westport lately which can often be completley different weather than down south.
Won't know till a day or two prior either way.

Here’s hoping for the 24th.

Once you get over the bar, you'll be fine.
