2022 Garden Thread

Corn is not getting any taller than 3 ft and stalks are turning dark brown??? Is this heat stress? Research only talks about leaves turning colors and does not address stalks???

Pics would help, but this is one cause...

Are you going to save the amaranth seed? If so I have a trick. Buy cheap dollar store panty hose. Cut the 2 legs off and pull over the seed heads all the way. Twist ties or zip tie tightly closed on the plant. When it is time harvest cut low on the branch invert and hang to dry for a gew weeks or so some grain amaranth can be winnowed to rid the chaff. I like to pop the seed in a hot dry skillet with a spatter screen on top

Your garden looks great, nice work!

Well, I managed to get a few plants in the ground early August, super late but they are taking off like crazy. It's ok if they are smallish as a few are a test of hybrids I made. Rabbit poop is a miracle fertilizer, it won't burn, can't over do it, plants are large green and crisp, also to note I added a bunch of meal worm frass which includes chiton that stimulates the plants defenses. There's no sign of disease or insect predation. Lebanese hybrid X OG Kush is pictured. Should make the wife happy, happy wife happy life...

I mislabeled your giant Golden Dixie. Hopefully I get something yellow. I manged to get 6, 30 gallon pots planted with a few things, kinda a square foot garden theme. I have various cannabis, sweet meat oregon heirloom squash, giant sunflower, several varieties of tomato, Floriani red flint corn, and sweet granite cantelope. I'm amazed how much growth I have since planting the beginning of August, I might actually even get a few tomatoes.
