Lost my anchor on the Yak

Geog

Freshly Spawned
I lost my tornado anchor on the Yak last week just above Mile Marker 19. It has an orange rope attached. If you find it, let me know and I will drive to you to pick it up. Happy to provide a case of IPA (your choice) as a reward. Thanks and here’s hoping!

No help on your recovery but very interested in how you lost it?

I bought a Tornado anchor for my boat largely on Red's selling point of it being harder to lose on the Yak.

I had a near loss on the Yak with an expensive Green Anchor lodging in the basalt cracks so built a DIY chain but I hate that one for the OP where the Tornado works great.

it sounds like a very similar scenario. We just couldn’t get it off the bottom and had to let I go.

My son and I were fishing the Yak in our drift boat about a mile or so aboveBig Pines campground a few years ago. We had the anchor out and one of those flotillas of giant inflatables plastic Cuban refugees came around the upstream bend. We did not have the time to pull the anchor and they were unable to do anything but spin. I was We had a decent line on the anchor but once we enveloped by the mass it did not take long for the line to part.

I got lucky - it was a hot summer day, the water wasn't very fast and only about 5' deep. I wasn't wearing waders so I just did a little free-diving and worked it loose. Took a few tries and my wife was laughing her ass off at my cussing but I got the damn thing back.

The chain anchors work but I don't like what they do to the bottom when it's smooth. The Tornado seems to grab really well and not drag much even on smooth bottoms.
