Chopaka

Never really got the allure of Chopaka.
Nice scenery and good fishing, but just as good of eastside fishing available with 3-4 hours of less driving for westside folks.
Never went back after my second trip 30+ years ago.

I love the country over there. The problem is I haven’t taken the time to explore other areas over there. I plan on doing that this fall..

It’s like crack cocaine. Some become addicted immediately and a few are able to avoid this demise. I started fishing there nearly 40 years ago and it still calls like a siren’s song. Perhaps I’m simply weak willed.

True, but that's aesthetics for you. Many people, me included, will make that longer drive to fish in that setting. That, and some nostalgic tradition.
Yup. I don't fish lakes much, but I do go to Chopaka at least once annually. Just got back from 5 days/4 nights. Wind varied from a distraction to a royal pain. Hatches were spotty and the fishing varied from day-to-day. The one constant was the scenery and the memories.

Glad we couldn't get close enough to feel the allure... Found other good places to catch
