Rivertrip Packing List

I’d rather get poison oak than have to listen to other peoples music in the woods or on the river.

I'd rather put urushiol (Poison ivy, oak, and sumac all contain an oil called urushiol) on the speakers, phone, toilet paper and food stuffs of the person with the music...

I was really happy to see so much emphasis on safety gear and first aid kits. OTOH, not a fan of speakers and (other people's) music in the wilderness.
I guess I’m old school…rather not listen amplified music while hanging around the campfire…but I like to bring my guitar…

I used to have a check list but I outgrew it. After a couple trips I decided to go through stuff as I unpacked at home and asked myself if, did I use this? If the answer was no, it didn't go next time. Putting gear in a drift boat for two or three guys for 3 or 4 nights on the river makes you leave anything nonessential home. Shelter, food , and water.....I'm going fishing...........Oh and Beer and Whiskey. Always room in the boat for that.

Just took a close look and my first aid kit is depleted, outdated, and needs to be beefed up. Anyone have recommendations on must have stuff for when first responders are hours to miles away? If you see an online kit that looks good feel free to call it out.

MyMedic has a good line of various first aid kits, from simple to well stocked. Something for most injuries and price points.

Here's a simple list from The Mountaineers:

I like the premade kits from "Adventure Medical Kits." They have lots of options and the contents seem to be high quality.

Did he play 'Dark Star' for 50 minutes ?

Speaking of small critters, dryer sheets, like Bounce, keep critters out of your foodstuffs in camp.
Somewhat sad I haven't done any river "float" trips so I don't know how much of a concern this would be. But having done quite a few river "hike" and "car camp" trips, it did raise a flag for me...

Great stuff!
+1 for earplugs
a guy has got to sleep and my buddies are getting more prone to snoring and farting
