Dog question

Maybe try adding one or more bowls in various places in the house and see if one gets selected? Emma won't eat or drink unless we're around to "watch her back" I call it. She will do fine home alone however.
If we're sitting my sons dogs it really messes with her. We have to eat in the bedroom with the door closed, and every nibble or lick she looks over her shoulder.
She was a rescue from a house with 3 bigger dogs that just bullied her.
 
Another good idea. Must approach this as scientists and only have/add one variable at at a time. But with three really good suggestions this may take time. Thank you all. Roper that really cracked me up and you’re probably right. But after basically three years being okay why diid it change? He always wants outside, your answer is simple and probably true. He always wants to swim. He’s a golden water retriever fer gawds sake !!! 😜

Mine does that too, he eats them like we eat M&Ms :D How do we stop this?

So about your dog, maybe send it off to a sitter for a few days. My 10mo old pup became snobby with his food, it became his 2nd choice at meal time. He'd wait for bits of scraps from our table and won't eat his food til our dinner was over. When we went on vacation he stayed with a sitter for a week, came back home eating his food like a champ again!
Sometimes a change in the environment kind of reset things for them.

How about leaving the outside bowl empty, or taking it away. When your dog gets thirsty enough he/she will sacrifice and drink inside

This has led to severe barking and even a whining sort. So as I said I have approached this some already. Just wasn’t gonna write everything out.

Filled outside …he just goes for the water rocks and puddles outside. But they always won’t be there. Plus trying to knock out the 10pm water call for outside.

Just a weird thing. It’s our fist dog. So learning. But we have had cats and they all have their own agenda and really don’t care about us….but our dog is more clock like. Freakin cats we had could care less just keep the feed bowl full then they ate when they wanted.

On a side note…
Picked up a rescue cat.
First week was spent in the dark hallway…litter box, food n water all in the same space.
Over time (7 months now), with lots of love and patience, we slowly moved the food/water to the kitchen and litter box to spare bedroom.
Then we had to break the “eat like a lab” mentality and weight gain. So, we adjusted her food intake - types and timing.
Now, we have to break her of walking the counters…most likely to look for food.
It’s always something new, but she is a great cat…when she’s sleeping 😁

My six year old lab will only drink outside. We've tried everything. We do know, that he will occasionally touch the indoor water when he is home alone, but basically, he just drinks from his outside bowl, or the one out by the barn.

There could well be truth in this. My dog suddenly refused to eat from his stainless bowl and quit drinking water from a different stainless dog bowl. I swapped-out the water bowl for a small bucket & started feeding him off of a heavy plate (solved 2 problems - 1) he couldn't gulp food, and 2) he started eating again.). I figured that he possibly bit his lip/cheek/tongue and associated that discomfort with the stainless bowls. Good luck!
