As a certified hater, there's schadenfreude here for me. Pre-launch, I was actually quite intrigued by the truck and thought it might be something I'd own one day, looks be damned. What actually delivered was an absolute (literal and figurative) dumpster fire.

I particularly like this quote:
Days after the reveal, Musk announced that he had more than 250,000 pre-orders for the truck. That figure eventually climbed to well over one million. But when the production truck finally arrived in 2023, it cost $61,000 instead of the promised $39,900. However, even that $61,000 truck had been delayed until 2025, and would only have a 250-mile range instead of the 500-mile range Musk promised. The first actual trucks delivered were $79,990 and had an estimated 340-mile range.

In 2023, Musk predicted sales of 250,000 trucks per year. Reports put the actual number sold in the three years since first deliveries at just around 71,000... total.

Was almost shocking and got to be kind of funny watching this disaster in slow motion. Seeing how horribly they were built, watching guys try to actually use them as a truck (especially off road) and failing spectacularly. Just really incredible that a company went through such great lengths to push this to market despite cooler heads trying to prevail. What happens when you load the board of directors with your buddies I guess.

(should go without saying - anyone who even hints at making this about Musk's politics will get deleted. Keep it on topic so we can all have a good time here.)

In one month Ford sold more F150’s than Tesla sold Cybertrucks in 3 years…
The CT was never really designed around what truck people actually do with trucks. It was designed to "look like the future." The bed is hard to reach into over the sides, range tanks the minute you hook up a trailer, and dinging a stainless body panel isn’t exactly a quick tand easy fix. Anyone who tows a boat or hauls gear could have told them that stuff before it ever hit production.I mean, they quite literally avoided input from truck consumers. It was part of the whole design philosophy.

When Musk lets good engineers do their thing, you get stuff like Falcon 9. When he’s the one making the calls based on his own vision, you get a truck built for people who don’t use trucks.

I so glad to hear this good news!! Talk about one of the ugliest pieces of shit!! The first time I saw one I thought some metal worker had some tin sheets laying around and a beater pick up……presto….fugly truck! They look like the box they ship their other cars in. Rest in pieces! My .02

a guy in our lap swim group owns one, proud as a peacock when he bought it a few years ago. Mid winter he wasn't looking too happy.
"I've changed tires and the damn thing still keeps sliding around on the roads." yea, a 7000# truncated pyramid on wheels will do that

If Artist Kehinde Wiley drove a cybertruck it probably would look like Breck's picture

Here's a cool story bro story: My brother came out to visit end of October from Australia. One his to-do list was getting a photo of a Cyber-truck. Fremont delivered one just as we were crossing the street.

I've seen one around tha's painted (or wrapped, maybe?) to look like the entire truck is rusted out.
I guess it's good to have a sense of humor about your horrible decisions!
They're wrapped. It's the only way to really color the stainless panels. The best part is the “bulletproof” stainless body picks up orange rust-looking specks from brake dust and shows every fingerprint. So the fix for a truck whose whole selling point was raw stainless steel is to pay a few grand to cover the stainless steel. Tesla even sells the wrap.

They were a fine way to show fanboi status....

Not much else though
