OFFICIAL 2026 NFL SEASON DISCUSSION

Not sure what minor tweaks can be made. The offensive coordinator is a huge problem I don't see suddenly getting better. Offense is a problem even in the games they won.

Darnold can be fine if the play calling accounts for his weaknesses, which Kubiak was pretty good at. Fleury reminds me of late stage Pete Carroll style offenses.

They'll win a few more games, sure. But if they can't go toe to toe with the good NFC teams, then they're not going to go far.

I expect improvement once the reshuffled o-line gets more time together, which will also help the run game.... But the OC likely won't take advantage of the strengths and cover up the weaknesses. He just seems to call basic high school playbook stuff half the time.
Of course, by the time we actually find out, both of us will have forgotten about this receipt.....

Excuses, Excuses , Excuses. Chickens got their ass kicked .
And we're literally saying how it happened. Your incessant need to turn everything into trash talk seems to cloud your reading comprehension.

What objective things can we say that aren't "excuses?"

Sorry the trash talk thing has never been fun for me. It's why I usually end up muting this thread even when my team is on top

Probably good idea then just mute us trash talkers . (y)

Bears got pressure all night w/o a blitzorama. Darnold is best in rhythm, getting rid of it quick.
Didn't happen, and play calls were only part of it, Bears are good.

Da bears. We all know it’s about who’s injured and who’s not and who’s in it at the end and getting hot. It’s about the moment not what you’ve done or could do but have you done enough to get there and be in it and are you riding high or low?

I think both Darnold & Nix suffer from the same affliction. They often lack quick decision making skills. Neither of them have much time in the pocket and are always on the run. Better QB protection would serve both squads well.
Agreed. Almost all games are ultimately won and lost at the line of scrimmage. When you get good play from your o-line, your QB and RB usually come off looking like superstars. When you have a great pass rush, opposing QBs can't get comfortable or wait for routes to develop, and bad things happen for the offense, which makes the whole defense look good.

Neither line was good for the Hawks tonight. As bad as the o-line was, I think the main (unusual) reason for the outcome was the complete lack of a pass rush on defense. Chicago's coaches had a great plan, and their players executed it well. If other teams can learn from what they did, it may be a long season for the Hawks, who are still formidable when Plan A is working but don't seem to have a viable Plan B when it's not.

Concerning plans, Like Evan, I've seen just about enough of OCs that live and die by the run and lack the imagination to try something else when it just isn't there. As others noted, we saw all of that we needed around here during the Pete Carroll era. Yes, it is a proven, winning formula, but when you don't have the horses, shouldn't you have something else up your sleeve once in a while?
