Ok why is all the hot nookie fishing in lakes in central wa? This is the darkest timelineMy go-to wiggle bug added another species to its list in a pretty nonstandard way last week: another mystery chinook from a certain Basin lake

At times, yes. Banks Lake has received some in the past.Does Washington stock surplus chinook fingerlings in freshwater lakes/reservoirs?
My wife and I drove down there today to scope things out. It looks easy to launch my pram but I didn't realize just how big that lake is......There was actually a second, smaller one that day, too! (I switched to a hand-painted & tied crappie jig after that crappie and got this guy instead)

California and to a lesser extent, Oregon have programs where chinook fingerlings surplus to their anadromous program alotments are planted in various lakes and reservoirs."Surplus"? I think someone mentioned that WDFW did, once upon a time, release some juvenile Chinook into Rocky Ford Creek and like @troutpocket says, Central WA has some interesting plumbing. I'm convinced* these Chinook ascend the stream that drains the lake which enters the Columbia between Wanapum and Priest Rapids dams.
Hills Creek reservoir outside of Oakridge is stocked with chinook fingerlings annually for a put and take fishery.California and to a lesser extent, Oregon have programs where chinook fingerlings surplus to their anadromous program alotments are planted in various lakes and reservoirs.
Like, sure. I get that. I've lived in eastern wa, and I understand basalt cracks and whatnot.Central WA has unusual plumbing. The big water projects connect stuff that you wouldn’t generally think about.
I gotta edit cuz @Northern stuck 2.... 4 basin lake fly caught nook. River fishers may be more tight lipped, but that's as many as I've seen all summer in total. And it's from a lake. By Othello or whatever. Or maybe Beverly, and possibly fucking Ephrata.Like, sure. I get that. I've lived in eastern wa, and I understand basalt cracks and whatnot.
This is the 3rd pnwff verified nook in a basin lake. Has anyone seen anything like this before?
No argument from me. . . as one of the very surprised catchers of a big Chinook that did not belong in the surroundings. There is a disturbance is all I'm saying
