Japan's "Metabo Law" is a 2008 public health initiative that requires annual waistline measurements for adults aged 40 to 74 to prevent metabolic syndrome. [1]
How the Law Works

    • Annual Checks: Employers and local governments must measure the waistlines of citizens aged 40 to 74 during routine health exams. [1]
    • Waist Limits: The target maximum waistline is 85 cm (33.5 inches) for men and 90 cm (35.4 inches) for women. [1]
    • Support, Not Fines: Individuals who exceed the limits face no legal penalties or fines, but they are offered dietary advice and health counseling. [1, 2]
    • Corporate Accountability: Employers and municipalities face financial incentives or penalties if they fail to meet national targets for reducing metabolic risk rates. [1, 2]

    • This was an interesting "preventative" measure that makes a lot of sense. Wonder if Sumo Wrestlers are excluded? I can't remember when my waist was 33.5?

a core reason why the Japanese live an average of 6 years longer than those in the US, and have significantly lower rates of heart disease, diabetes, prostrate and breast cancers. The Japanese obesity rate 4 to 6%, the US....

There's something amiss here. The same 33.5" for all men, regardless of height or body type doesn't make sense when men's height may range from 5' 5" to 6' 6", and some are light boned and some are heavy boned body types.
I've been using the old 'heavy boned' excuse for quite awhile.....my doc just gives me the stink eye when I tell her that.

Fuck, I'm just old and fat

Sure... there's a bunch of euphemisms out there I could use

But why, as anyone who sees me says....

''Fuck, he's gotten old and fat.''

😂😁

I got a chuckle out of the airport bar patrons on my way back from Spokane this week. I asked for only a little agave syrup in my second margarita and said "I'm not big sugar guy." Pause... "I'm more of a big fat guy." Some unintentionally self depreciating humor that I only got as I was saying it.
