Looking like I'm going to have to scrap the 2 telescopes my brother left for Abby and buy a good used one.
Anyone have a link to a forum or site, other than FleaBay, please, that specializes in telescopes?

This is the one that a relative gave to my daughter. She used it to take the pictures above by aiming a cell phone camera at the eyepiece. We like it and I don't think it was terribly expensive.

This is an unintentional eclipse shot. My am propranolol wore off and I wasn't using a tripod and was shooting in "night mode" which must stack images to build a composite. My tremor just messed the algorithm way up. Either that or the moon is in fact a giant lathed spindly thing

As Bob Ross used to say: "Happy Accident."

I like!

Flying in to Spokane on Monday I had a window seat looking north. The smoke from the fires in the mountains rose as a grayish white plume. Then it hit some kind of ceiling (density layer? inversion?) and all the smoke was compressed into an opaque black horizontal line. It looked like someone had drawn a line in the sky with a huge black Sharpie and a straightline. I should have taken a picture, sorry! I've never seen that before.
