Mammal Print ID and Mini Report

MarshRat

Life of the Party
Did a little recon for some good swinging water in anticipation of this fall/winter season, across the line in the lower mainland of BC. After some bushwhacking and channel crossing I stopped for my granola bar break, and inadvertently sat down my pack next to a couple really nice prints.

I rarely see prints where I normally fish, so I’m not sure what I’m looking at. Black bear? Mountain lion? Ross 5/6 size reel for scale.

Anyway, the 6 weight ended up seeing some use to my surprise.

Watched this really nice whitefish pikeminnow track my jig streamer down. Pictured in my XL deep net.

Would love to hear some thoughts on the print, as I was without bear spray and would happily carry spray if warranted. Cheers.

Not the best print but I would say bear and not cougar based off it having claw marks. I posted some black bear prints yesterday in the cell phone pics thread also. The first ones are what I typically see and the second set of prints were twice the size although hard to tell and very obvious claws.

That also looks like a pike minnow in your net? Need to get over to BC myself one of these days! Nice.

Interesting, are the bigger prints just a bigger bear? Or just some kind of double print? Good call on the pikeminnow, 100%.

Almost garuntee that's one!!! Almost GARAUNTEE that's a Bigfoot. Some of these areas have several KNOWN TO BE. Side of that print's just melting out due to the MUD. Almost GARUNTEE that's one!!
