I had it at our previous home. When we bought this house, we were going back and forth and I left it working until it inexplicably quit connecting to the router. The poor customer service then came into view. I was asked to restart it repeatedly, and do other things that would require the dish to connect to the router, which was the error message I contacted them about. I couldn’t get it through the bots processing unit the depth of the paradox, so I just canceled the service and left it all there for the next owner. Either they will help a new customer get it working or they will not get said customer. There are other options around here. Until all of this happened, I was happy with the way it worked.

Oh I'm aware of why they think they have to do it. I just don't agree with it. So the network is too crowded for me unless I pay a $1000 fee? Some areas are $1500 now. So if everyone just keeps paying the fee will they actually improve the network for all the new subscribers? They don't state that they will put these funds directly into network improvement on their website.

T-Mobile and Verizon just put you on a waiting list. They know consumers are smart enough to go somewhere else and they also know they can't increase bandwidth fast enough to keep up even if they spend that fee on the network.

I just find it highly arrogant...which is on brand.

But the point of StarLink is to finance his trip to Mars. That is the priority for him.

They did have a waiting list. I had to wait six months to get service. But some folks wanted StarLink, no matter the cost. Hence, the fee.

I really did appreciate that they limited enrollment at the beginning. There were not enough satellites to provide good service to everyone in the beginning, so they limited access to rural folks. They even had it down to 20X40 mile cells where they limited service.

I had speeds of 200 to 300 Mbps in those early days. Now it is down to 100 in most cases,except when I am in the middle of somewhere like central Nevada.

I have had both Verizon and T-Mobile. Verizon is a criminal enterprise. T-Mobile is interesting. But at least I am paying half of what I was paying at Verizon. Since almost all my cell service is via StarLink or wifi at home I think I am going to switch to a very low cost service. I don't use cell towers except on a rare basis anymore.
 
Not to hijack the thread, but all the military's in the world missed the usefulness of satellite internet. The Russians, Chinese, and DOW are currently scrambling to deploy their own "StarLink" like networks.

Don't know how DARPA missed that one.
 
Starlink has/will shut off access to entire countries. That amount of power in one individual is scary.

There needs to be more competition to StarLink. The government is awarding contracts, albeit smaller, to Spacemobile. This is a step in the right direction.

Looking forward to more competition for both commercial and defense business.
 
After doing a little more research I wanted to revisit this again now that we are living in our off grid home. I looked at the regular Starlink but being off grid the current draw/watts bothers me especially during our short winter days. On the shortest days the sun barely clears the mountains to the south and only for a few hours at that. I looked at the Mini and it seems to fit the bill as it uses substantially less power and we aren't gamers or do anything that requires lightning fast speeds. There's no cell service available so we use wifi calling and our internet uses primarily consist of Google Searches, Gmail, Youtube TV, and occasionally Youtube videos to figure out how to fix stuff. My question is is the mini fast enough to handle this?
 
Not an equal comparison, but I have 300 mbps home internet and do all the things you mentioned without any issues. It looks like the mini is slightly slower than that so hopefully someone who uses one will chime in.

I’m streaming Netflix in my camper with my kids next to the Big Horn as I write this. Works great!
