SFR There's Hot And Then There's Really Hot

Sorta fishing-related

I'm heading to Billings this morning and just checked the NOAA forecast.
I'm expect to see a number of overheated vehicles and am packing some extra water.
This has to be really stressful on people, livestock, and wildlife not to mention fire danger with 12-17 mph winds in the forecast for Sunday.

Yikes! It will be pushing/reaching 90 in my former stomping grounds in SW Montana. Be careful & have a safe trip, Dean.

The most heat-stalled vehicles I've ever seen was on that minivan-eating grade of I-15 from Nevada down into California.

I just left your old stomping grounds on Thursday. Had some decent fishing and time spent with friends.

I’m driving out to Flathead Thursday to check on my folks and sit in the lake. The forecast looks warm, but not scorching. I’m just crossing fingers that the fire season doesn’t flare up too much. The scotch I buy for the old man will be the only liquid I have in the Landcruiser with which to fight any fires during the drive. On the way back to western WA I won’t even have that….

Not sure which way you are going to get there but there's currently major construction delays around Arlee.

Summer construction delays - ugh. Arlee area won’t impact me unless I want to do a side trip though; I will probably jump on the 200 in St Regis and then cut over to the 28 near Plains. My parents house is on the lake a bit east of Dayton but west of Rollins, so the 28 is nice - if not on fire - because if intersects the 93 kind of near Elmo and then I just cruise up the 93 for a bit.

I drove 135 to 200 to 93 today and the construction is/was southeast of Ravalli. I didn't see any equipment around and they did a half assed paving job on both lanes for several miles. Maybe there's more work ahead but it sure didn't look like it. 28 to the west side of the lake should be no problem.
Have a great trip!

Check your car coolant hoses! I'm doing mine on my truck now. Don't forget heater hoses and any plastic connections and fittings. Those things break at about the 100k mile point.
For some reason serpentine belts went through my mind today and I'll definitely be checking mine.
The outdoor temp readout in the car showed 109 degrees at the rest area between Columbus and Park City.

Welcome to my world...Henderson NV hasn't been below 100 in several weeks...hit 110 yesterday. Leaving for Hawaii in a couple weeks for the month...

The heat dome (The height of the 500mb surface is directly related to the temperature of the atmosphere below 500 mb) presently driving the increase in those temperatures was forecasted in early July.
