Puget Sound

The first and only fish landed today was a sculpin, just as I saw this guy. That's some white tail tip coyote luck right there! That guy had been digging a bunch under the wood in the foreground....

The back side of the anvil, so cool watching this cell build and build today

Question on marine worms ? I don’t see them around up in north sound. Maybe not digging around enough ?

I’ve seen worms in every marine area I’ve fished from the beach.

View attachment 186996The size difference between the coyote and the trees makes them look huge

Richard- the coyote vs tree size diff is the telephoto lens exaggeration; background looks way bigger. I was surprised how marked it was when going through the photos. The big stumps were about 150 yards away, the coyote about 75 yards and the foreground about 50 yards, plus the monotones of the sand make fore, mid and background hard to distinguish and obliterate a sense of length, making the whole setup look a lot steeper. The harder part is getting it in my mind which potential shots might look vastly different just because of that lens exaggeration + color/tone mix. That last part, is perhaps the most interesting thing about photography, I don't see quite what the camera does, weird backgrounds especially...

Hit the sound with a non fly fishing friend. We dragged some flies, spoons and herring around on divers looking to get an early start to the year filling the freezer. Pretty solid fishing. Limited by 7:30 am even after releasing some smaller keepers.

Deep red rezzie flesh…

Will probably head out Sunday as well. Hope to get a couple on cast flies then!

I’m very late to the game this year. The neighbors bulkhead made of boulders is crumbling and has scatter 2 man size rocks in the way of me launching my boat.

But I walked out to my dad’s honey hole and cast a few before I got trapped by the tide. Had a few grabs. Nothing more to report.

Time for the neighbor to deploy a crane or bulldozer so you can launch your boat.
