There's A piece in NYT today about best dad movies for Father's Day, it's A fun idea- what's your top five?

I guess you could cut it as movies about dads doing dad things, or better yet movies that make you value family regardless of being a dad, or just dudes doing cool things that make a dad wish he could take a stab at them, or just movies that are so familiar that everyone in the family knows most of the lines

For various reasons, my 5

1- The Fugitive......
2- A River Runs Through It
3- Gallipoli
4- Castaway
5- Blues Brothers

Almost made the cut- Master and Commander Far Side of the World, Step Brothers, Superbad, Pulp Fiction, The Road, Das Boot, The English Patient, Raiders of Lost Arc, Gravity, Speed, Lonesome Dove, Mad Max (undubbed version)

Return of the Jedi.

The Count of Monte Cristo

The Great Santini

The Lost City of Z

Frailty

Dune (1984)

WHAT?!!! How can "Best in Show" not be on your list! ;-)

Few others off top of head…

I prefer the book to the movie in all of these but:

-The Road (ok depressing as hell but still)
-River Runs Through It
-Sometimes a Great Notion

Couple more:

-Road to Perdition
-Father of the Bride
-Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

1. Big Fish

2. Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
3. Meet the Fockers
4. Interstellar
5. The Godfather series

PS: Edited a couple I forgot!

Special mention and Father's day present I just got:20260621_104047.jpg

I worked as a shipwright on master and commander
My only mdb credit
Defiantly one of the more historically correct marine movies
No wonder why it never had a sequel
Tough to compete with cleavage

Rotato, that's awesome !

Geena Davis was in a sorta cleavage-filled pirate movie that bombed...
