Flats in Oregon!?

Yes please! sign me up!

I was fortunate enough to have @skyriver invite me to check out some capr (carp for you purists) flats that I had never fished.....

So, I worked my way East of PDX:

It wasn't all that long before we had both connected with a few fish....

got carp-blocked by a few of these (and a couple bass):

So we ended up slaying the bluegills for a couple of minutes....

The End.

What a fun day!

🍻

That was fun man! What Randy didn't mention is that a couple of his several caprs were big! A 17 and a 19!
In fact, that's the 17 he's holding.
Here's another angle of it. It was one of the nicest looking carp I've ever seen.

And yes, some beefy bluegill.
Hell, he was so hot he got carp blocked by...another carp!

It was a great day.

I shoulda taken a pic of that lil fella....

Yes, it was a great day indeed.

Though I don't fish carp, once people determine that there are fish beyond STS they tend to start enjoying their fishing a lot more.

I dunno Rob, even trout fishing is a lot of fun! I don't think there's any sort of enlightenment going on or anything, just taking advantage of what's sitting in front of you and enjoying it.

Diggin that full-on well-loved mojo-filled sun-protecting hat. And the fish too. But came mainly to check out the views of that hat. Pic 1 suggests the capr was maybe 1.5X hat radius long. Though was it closer to two?

Last night on green lake, 930 pm, carp were mugging on the surface all over the place. My son damn near jumped out of the kayak seat as we almost ran over one. It kicked up a monster of a splash. I don't think I've ever had luck with the surface suckers nailing a fly but man would it be a way to get a tow in the kayak...

I really don't have a great sense of capr size...I almost didn't even bother weighing the 17, but Stacy was already getting his janky scale ready. 😆

Re: hat. Straight from the streets of Loreto circa 2023. It's got rooster slime, pargo slime, capr slime, faux musky slime on it....I think it's got a bit of mojo to it. Plus, it's comfy as hell. I'll be sad when it finally bites the dust.

🍻

My scale is, in fact, janky. :ROFLMAO: It took one little brief dip in a carp pond last year and now I have to disconnect/reconnect a battery to get it to turn on. It's still accurate tho! Carp are hard to tell weight and pregnant carp even tougher! They're like bowling balls.
