I had not known of Mark Frey before your post and checked out his website. It is obvious he had a deep love of all things bamboo in his writing. I learned some things just from his website. He will live on in all the rods he helped bring back life to.

Sorry to hear. Mark worked on a couple of my bamboo rods. I also bought some reels from him. Whenever I picked up any rods he worked on we always spent an hour or two in conversation on his little house in the woods.

Dan, I am very distressed to hear this. I have been pinging away at Mark's e mail since late February. Our last conversation was on replacing the guide on one of my Sharpe's spliced joint single handers. I even called Yelm police to do a wellness check and they completely misled me into believing he was in hospital. Any idea who's caring for his cat?

I did have three rods with him. Do you know who's going to attempt to sort his gear out. He has a 51 Leonard, 8 1/2', and two Edwards blanks, 8' & 8 1/2', we were going to build out which I purchased from Carl Barney. Mark was a huge fan of the Edwards family and he made me one too. We were going to build 7', 7 1/2', 8', 8 1/2', 9' & 9 1/2' rods in the Edwards style as tributes. Mark was jazzed about the project but I can't imagine doing it now without him. Do you have any contact info for someone who might be able to help me with the rods?
