Spring Creek-in'

I was able to get out this weekend in what felt like the first time in forever.
Started Saturday off by hiking at Silver Falls SP with my family. We're really starting to "practice" getting my girl hiking on her own so we can do some backpacking with her this summer. This will be the first year that I can't really carry her, so our family backpacking trips are going to go from 10 miles round trip to 2-3 miles round trip.

After our hike, my wife and kid drove back home while I went over the pass.

Saturday evening I fished exclusively for bulls with one of Clarkman's musky flies (swims great and a dream to cast on an 8wt). I got a few to chase and a couple to eat but couldn't keep anything pinned for more than a second. Unfortunately at one point I was fishing under some big wood and set to hard on a downed tree. Then while trying to get my fly back the rest of my line got all hung up on the tree. 15 minutes later I ended up having to cut all but 1' of the 17' sink tip to free my rod and reel from the tree. Bummer! Ended the day nymphing the campground section and landed a few short finned grayling.

Was up and at them early Sunday so I could get first pass through the campground and highway holes and was able to pick up a couple of these golden bellied redsides before I headed down river to hunt bulls again. We found them, but they wouldn't move for absolutely anything. Nymphed a little to close out the day before I headed back to PDX before my kids bedtime.

I'm curious, which one gave you the most action?

cool. I'm working up several doubles in that length with slightly smaller hooks (like 2/0 and 1/0) for Bulls specifically....with those 2 color schemes in mind.

It would really be funny to see that cotton candy one stuck in the corner of a Bullies mouth!

2/0 and 1/0 are typically what I tie my bully flies with.
Challenge accepted!

I can only assume they literally get ALL the attention with the campgrounds right there ;)
I generally won't fish them unless I know I'm the first to hit 'em.
