Awesome Dogs of PNW

What a beautiful dog. Dutch shepherd?
Very close! Belgian Tervuren which is basically a long-coated Malinois (Belgian Shepherds). In the US, it's considered a seperate breed. In Europe, they're treated as a single breed (Malinois, Tervuren, Groenendale) and are sorted out as puppies based on coat type. Her sire was a half-Mal Czech import so her coat is a little shorter than some Tervs but not Malinois short. Same crazy temperament although at 10yo, she's finally slowing down a bit.

Dutchies are great dogs too. Love them but usually have too much drive to be good pets IMHO. Yuki's breeder specializes in SAR work so breeds them a little smaller (easier to carry in rough country or heli) and softer than police/military breeders.

I’ve raised German shepherds my entire life. I just love the breed. I tend to like herding dogs in general. This is my 3-year-old boy, Hanzo. He's a good dog and loves to go fishing.

Similar here. Parents had GSD's when I was growing up including a bunch of Schutzhund dogs.

Great name (!) as in Hattori Hanzo?

Herding dogs are the best. Yuki is 10 and given I just turned 61, I don't think I'll be physically up to another Belgian Shepherd puppy when she passes so I just do my best not to think about it.

Tel me more about the Leica…..
Apologies for the thread drift...

I shoot with a couple digital Leica's these days. Back in the day, a 35mm M6 rangefinder was my camera of choice (along with some MF/LF gear) but I'm all digital at this point. However, I still love the look from classic Leica rangefinder lenses. Using them on the mirrorless digital body with an adapter works great and easier to focus wide open using the big EVF and focus peaking.

Here's the collapsible 1952 Summicron 50/2.0 screw mount I used for the photo of Yuki on the SL3 next to a modern 35/2.0 for comparison. It has lanthanum and radioactive thorium glass internal elements with a leaded glass rear element. It'll will still trigger a Geiger counter.

Looks weird but works!

Yes, I find that at 69, the energy and needs of a 3 year old lab can be a bit daunting, especially with a bad knee. But also don’t regret it, I wouldn’t be as active.

Daddy, can we go out front?

She loves to stand here in this warm sunny spot in front of the garage.
