Not gonna tell anyone how to live their life or spend their money, but just something to consider.... I own two extremely solid Ford trucks for a combined $$$ of likely much less than that one is priced at.

Oh I appreciate any insight. This is a 2021 with only 33k miles. New but not new. It's $42k.. my trade in will be $4000 to $5000. Plus some other down payment. Good thing is that I have my Kia Soul, 2018, so there is no hurry, but I do love the truck! And I miss having a truck! So I'm thinking it over and deciding what's right for me, right now.. I've going to check insurance rates in a bit. But I appreciate any feedback you and others have on this Lariet F-150! TIA!

I have had good luck with the 150's I have owned. You will enjoy the move up in space from the Kia.

That white one of mine is a 2013 and was about 1/3 that price with 80k miles. Has top trim interior and all the bells and whistles. Just an all around killer rig for the money.

One vehicle is enough for me and the F150 get decent milage. It's a V6 ecoboost with twin turbos.

I looked at some older ones.. 2018 and 2019.

I've also test drove and considered an Infiniti QRX60. It seats 8 and is awesome but a truck is my style. It's less than the f150 and I could do Uber Black.. but I really dont want to be an Uber driver.. unless its taking a Bachelorette party out to play!! 😄

Had to replace a turbo and a transmission on my 2019 eco boost f150 just out of warranty. Break pads lasted longer. Cost me about 14k out of pocket. Ten speed transmission is a known problem. Same story with other people I know with fords and with my ford work truck. Was first ford I bought . My old Toyota went 250k without anything but maintenance. Won’t buy another ford.

I bought a 2019 F150 Lariat last year had 92k on it. It's fully loaded and has the 3.5L Ecoboost twin turbo so it scoots when you punch it.

Yeah, I personally wouldn't want an Ecoboost. I was mostly motivated by price when getting my daily driver truck (my 2013 F150), but those 5.0L Coyotes are a way more solid, proven platform than the Ecoboosts.

My F-150 is a 2018. I got the extended warranty for the life of the loan but I haven't had to use it much. A new water pump has pretty much been the extent of it. It's got the 3.5 L Ecoboost V6 twin turbo engine. Plenty of poop to haul/pull anything I've thrown at it. I average 20mpg. Great truck. I love it. I would strongly suggest getting the extended warranty. Mine covers everything, even paint, interior, the whole lot. When it came time to change my brake pads, they were even covered under the warranty. It was an extra $3K, but it has paid for itself already. It covers service and maintenance as well. When I hit 100,000 miles they did a tune-up at no charge.

Thanks everyone! This is the kind of info I want to know. Trying not to be impulsive and am considering a Subaru Outback or maybe a Chevy Colorado.. but the f150 is #1 on my list atm.

That's really good advice! $3k is great for what you get. We'll see if thats an option, but I would be surprised if it wasn't.

My old 2000 Taco had about 150k miles when I wrecked it. It sucked but wasn't worth fixing it.

I would probably still be driving it if I hadn't wrecked it. I actually thought that the other person was more at fault, but insurance totalled it.

It was a V6 extended cab.

@flybill - if you go this route look closely at its maintenance records. How often did they change the oil, did it have any problems, etc. Highly recommend you change the oil at least every 5k miles. Heat through degraded oil is a killer for turbos. Oil changes are cheap insurance. And consider an extended warranty thru ford - want to make sure you have coverage on all the electronics as well as the motor/transmission.

Buddy of mine just traded in a 2017 f150 turbo with right at 100k. Only issue he had was with the cam sensors which apparently was a problem for some of the early EcoBoost motors. On the other hand his new F150 EcoBoost hybrid had to have the transmission replaced after only a couple of months. Obviously a warranty claim. But he really likes the truck. And no problems since then. Driven to N Dakota and back bird hunting drove and handled nicely.

Another buddy has a 2018 F150 with the 5.0l coyote. No problems with it.

Good luck

If you're considering vehicles as dissimilar as an Outback, Colorado, and F-150, then I don't think you're really ready to make a purchase decision yet.

I hear ya' about the 2000 Tacoma. Our 1999 Tacoma had 200k on it 2 years ago when we opted for a '23 Tacoma, 4-door so we can fit the grandson in. Wanted to make the change before the 24s came out with new body style and new engine/transmission. Never buy the first year of a new power train because they invariably have some "first year" problems.

Yeah, seems to me like you really need to figure out what it is you want. Those are three VERY different vehicles.

I bought a brand new F-150 in 2016. The sales guy was really pushing me toward the EcoBoost, but at the time, I just couldn't bring myself to buy a full-sized pickup with a V6 so I went with the Coyote. Fast forward to 2022 when I traded that truck in for the one I have now, I went with the EcoBoost. The EcoBoost outperfoms the V8 in nearly every aspect.

Buyers market🔥… that’ll be a real nice truck. Go through the service records, Carfax, etc. If you pull the trigger… 91 octane, full synthetic every 5k, spark plugs at the latest 60k… If you have a PC, I would highly recommend researching Forscan and if you have the confidence to program, download the spreadsheet, key and cable. Really cool how much you can customize. Cam phasers were an issue on the 18-20’s, if you can find a 3.5 or 8 with those serviced and low miles, I would not thumb my nose! 15-17 3.5’s are great but the exhaust manifolds are the weak spot. I have a 16 3.5 and a 23 Raptor… love them both.

Well the truck is what I've decided on. The others were in the list, but a truck over even a bug SUV for me.
