The Positivity Thread

Some negativity that resulted in a positive outcome...

I have said in one of my recent posts ---> listen to your body. When in doubt, call for help. I did Sunday morning and glad I did!.

Something was not right. Tried to take my BP and it errorred out twice. O2 levels lower than normal but OK. Called 911 within 10 minutes of onset. 20 minutes later in ER surrounded by docs, nurses and techs. That is great news!

Spent next 4 days in the hospital. Great quality treatment by knowledgeable and caring providers and staff. Quality health care is very positive. Several providers commented on my quick call and thanked me for doing it. They indicated most are not so quick.

Released with minimal damage.Just more Specialists to visit. Medicare coverage and supplemental insurance is a positive.

On a side note: our health-care providers see so many angry, whoa is me, and angry at the world patients that it is the norm. I try to be positive, sincerely wanting to know more, and what is next. It is positively received for sure. And what they share could be more than with a negative patient. At least I think so...

Negativity only adds to stress. More stress is not a good thing!

A positive thing ---> I am alive and kicking to annoy you all.

Listen to your body and call early!

Edited to add: bring your phone charger with you when you go to ER just in case...

We all know our attitudes are a reflection of who we surround ourselves with and who or what we listen to, read, watch, etc.

When I hear someone say, or read someone who writes, β€œwith all that’s going on in the world today” inferring that the world is a mess, I know they are regular news watchers. It’s one of those, tell me you watch the news without telling me you watch the news, deals.

I’m not claiming the world isn’t a hot mess. However, would any of that change if you didn’t hear a daily report telling you that nothing had changed? Does being β€œinformed” impact the outcome? A few years ago I walked away from the news for 60 days. When I cam back they were talking about the EXACT same things…zeros change!

Some people can handle a lot of negativity and remain positive themselves…some can’t! I think we should know which we are and adjust accordingly.

I'm positive I'm doing all i can and more! Caring for mom is both the best and worst job ever! Challenges, but i can handle them as they come!
Very few people understand what it takes to do this. You are doing a very selfless and thankless thing and you have my full appreciation for what you are doing.

I keep thinking about your response. I try to give positive feedback with each deserving interaction. Mychart helps a lot for sure.

I also feel management should hear our about positive input. I have provided positive input when i see the doctor aka specialist. In the ER that is harder to do. I had an ER doctor I was impressed with. Very knowledgeable complete control of her team, listened to my input, yet provided the best experience I ever had. She explained what and why she was doing it as well results of each test. Amazing to say the least! Feedback is great, feedback to management is even better.

I do! My daughter found an agency that has caretakers, $45 an hour is what they charge me, but that is not what the caretaker ends up with. Mine is worth her weight in gold.
I've got people lined up to help. Mom is not willing to pay for it atm. It may just have to happen, but I can only fight so much BS at one time and choose to pick my battles. I want her to have someone come in 2 times / week and have a house cleaning service once or twice a month! Unless the caregiver can handle the cleaning of course.

My mom passed away last November and yes I did talk about it here. She passed at 99 and we turned her home into a hospice with visiting nursing a hospital bead a home revovation my brother I and his son made happen. She needed physical transport for 2-3 years leading to the final week of hospice transition i arranged for home care earlier last year 8 hours / day two 4 hour shifts 4 days a week. My mephew was raised by my mom and dad. He was a great care giver mom was in a care facility for an alotted time until insurance eneded her stay there because the daily went to 225 per day thereafter. Her income was quite adequate but that I hsd to explain to her many times as her medicne reactions caused bizarre side effects. She calming him down was pretty successful as He has always been challenging for me to deal with. decided she was sick of it all after her 2 month stay. We moved her hope and arranged a meeting at the house. Dealing with other family was torture. Recognizing my brother(70) was becoming a pain in the arse. He had this idea that hospice is a death sentence. My work at Though wonderful in dealing with moms
However needs. Mom got tired of paying nurses for inflated cost to pay the agency to be there. She saud they did next to nothing for way too much money so my brother worked against me and my opinions. Anyway she wanted to be home and she had great care and what she wanted. In the end the attending physician thought the liver failure might have been a result of cancer and her vitals and pain level. Home care was successful and still working on wrapping up the property release. And organizing an amazing array of history and fighting back reoccuring tear brimming.
