Other Hobbies?

Besides fly fishing and fly tying, my younger brother who just recently retired is a pretty serious amateur geologist-rockhound and needs a partner (mule) who doesn't have to work for a living. He has talked me into buying some basic tools and (as a former climber) I find Washington's chaotic geologic history fascinating.
Hiking - Camping - Biking - as a means to enjoy the above off the beaten path.
Musician; electric or acoustic guitar in almost any style a director asks for, tenor banjo, and mandolin for a few local live theatre companies. Occasionally get a wedding date.

You folks that have musical talent amaze me. My sister could hear a piece and play it, and has a beautiful voice, perfect pitch. I'm tone deaf, and could play the chords, but it never sounded like music.

I collect knives also but don't have the budget of the OP. This is the latest on I got. I had to wait about a year for it.View attachment 10453
Cruwear PM2 with some Micarta scales. Very nice. I’ve got a 52100 steel PM2 with some custom scales in addition to a few other Spydercos.

Oh, and I guess beer is a hobby as well.

My other hobby (also job) besides fly fishing is homebrewing. Lots of homebrewed beer and wine flowing in this household. I've been into import cars for as long as I can remember, with a soft spot for turbo Subarus especially. At one point in time my car pulled double duty :D

I "golf" with my buddies, but its more of an excuse to hang out together for 4-5 hours and drink too much. I dabble in some PC gaming from time to time as well. Again, an excuse to drink and hang out with friends from out of town. Camping and hiking both on the list also.

I golf a little, before fly fishing I used to golf 3 to 4 times per week.. not enough time and/or money to golf that much and fly fish.

I would say I collect, with all of the fly rods, reels, lines and materials for fly tying.. I've spent the past year and a half fighting this and have tossed or donated a ton of shit! None of the FF stuff though.

Reading and hunting and collecting rare bourbon and whisk(e)y.. I drink them, and share with friends.. same with wine and beer! Those of you that have fished with me or run into me on the river know I always have something in my sling pack or jacket....

I do have a nice collection of yo yo's! And some nice knives a friend makes.. and last is cooking and bbqing! During Covid, I taught myself to smoke food and will be doing a brisket this year.. A friend is giving me his smoker vault.. baking bread is also something I have done since I was a teen. It was easier when I had a Kitchen Aid mixer.. I will be getting a new one this year sometime!

I forgot cribbage and backgammon.. recently dominoes (Cuban style)...

I had blinders on when I typed out my post yesterday evening on my laptop and didn't realize that over half of my desk is taken up by HF and VHF radio equipment connected to the laptop. I am a licensed amateur (ham) radio operator (Extra class +VE). I don't do much recreational "ham" radio besides the APRS (worldwide Automatic Packet Reporting System) text messages to my wife's cell phone and beaconing my GPS position with a mobile VHF radio in the SUV that she can lookup from an internet link sent in the text messages when I'm out in the bush. However I do average around 40 hours a month in support of emergency communications for a Federal agency.
