A guy posted a report saying that he had a fishing partner (see photos) and that he had pretty good luck.
The inevitable "where were you fishing" question came up...the response, "Right by that elk".
No matter what kind of fishing it's been my friend has a couple stock answers when someone asks "How's the fishing?"
"Worst I've ever seen it!"
"Just gittin' started."
I work in healthcare with geriatric patients, they like to see my “fish pics” after every weekend. These fellas aren’t ever fishing again, but my response is always the same- “if I told ya, I’d have to kill ya”
Commercial fisherman will ask that question to other commercial fisherman . The reply is almost always a lie. But at least you know where they WERN'T fishing. That can be helpful.

Long ago in Southern California, sport charter boats (far out to sea) would tie an inflated trash bag to a kelp paddy. This enabled them to easily relocate them. To throw off the competition, they would place inflated trash bags far away from any kelp paddy. This was, IMHO, the pinnacle answer to the age old question. Where were you fishing?
