Neoprene Waders?

Anyone using neoprene stocking foot waders? If liking them, make? Snow days days coming up at the local....

I had a pair of Hodgman neoprene that lasted for many years. Unfortunately, last winter I left them hanging in my garage and the mice realized that the neoprene made great nest insulation.

I love my boot foot neoprene waders. Cheap, tough, and warm in the coldest conditions. I wouldn't want to walk far in them, but for easy road fishing winter spots they are great.

The price tag on breathable boot foot waders is so crazy this is a great way to extend their life.

Sorry, only have a set of those humble hodgemans.

They work well but I'd suggest going up a size if you want to layer more than just fleece pants and wool socks.

What I didn't like about them is they attract pokey things that leave holes.

I only walk a coupla hundred yards to my fave section to where it's pretty much all sight casting micro dries standing mid thigh for coupla hours at a time in what is usually low to mid 30's....back in float tube days, neo + fleece = toasty

I still have my old pair of Bare 4mm stocking foot neos. What I liked about them was the more streamlined profile I had when wading. Layering under them was never a problem for me. The problem with them is that they would get warm in the afternoons and on a really nice day they could get downright hot.

I use the.green Hodgman with double knees for winter lake fishing. I wear layers underneath and on top over the waders.
For streams I use breathable waders with multiple insulated layers.

Only thing I remember was the shop in Western Washington encouraged me to buy a certain size, which didn’t allow clothing under them, making you have to literally peel them off because of sweat. Then refusing to exchange them saying all sales are final. Only way to utilize them was wearing pantyhose. They sat forever not being used till simply thrown out.

Still have a pair of the good ole brown Simms waders. Haven't used them in years but the last time was fishing a river in Nov. and i couldn't believe how much water friction was grabbing my legs compared to my breathables'....

I just don't see any benefit to them at all. You can layer and move around so much better under breathable waders.
I agree to a point. I have an old pair of the Simms extreme boot foots and those things are clutch when it’s super fucking cold. Just heavy as all get out! 😂

lol..try peeling out of a chest zipper 5/4 mil skin tight wetsuit after a three hour winter session with fingers so numb you can barely hold your car keys, and sliding out of those neo wader is like getting out of pajamas
I am fine never having had that delightful experience. 😊

This is turning into a "me too" cascade, but my experience with neoprene was they were wetter on the inside from sweat than on the outside from the river.
A friend once manufactured them; we were surfers in CA hence the concept, but he soon after moved to Bainbridge; I always teased him that he did it so those of us that bought them in CA couldn't find him. But if you like them...
