PNW Local fly reel manufacturers?

DanielOcean

Fart! : )
I know we have some reel manufacturers in Idaho, but do we have any in the state of Washington? Sometimes I wish I had the machinist skills necessary!

Lamson used to be on Bainbridge Island but with the Waterworks acquisition I don’t think they make anything here anymore.

I thought Mako moved to Floriday when Able/ Ross and whoever else bought them?

Oh i I

Tell us more please ……

Look him up on Instagram he has no website, its about a 2 year wait.

I thought that lamson was in Redmond originally. Did they move to Bainbridge when Sage acquired them?

You're right, it was Redmond! I think I was conflating them with the whole Sage / Redington / Farbank roll up.

I'm not sure if Sage actually acquired them, but I know Waterworks had a reel design licensed to be built by Sage at some point. And Waterworks (Boise ID) bought Lamson in 1998.

I'm not sure if Solitude Reels is still in existence or not. Google shows them as "temporary closed", the Facebook page hasn't been posted to for many years, and their solitudereels.com website goes to an error page. WaybackMachine snapshots show the website has been borked (or the domain taken over) since 2020 or so.

I'll ask the Confluence guys next time I'm in the shop. They'll know the answer, I suspect. Bit of a bummer if they are gone, I always kinda wanted one.

@Bhudda is that your reel?

Islander makes great reels, just wish they’d once again make an IR5, but my most lusted-after reel (and it’s Vancouver Island) is a Peetz wooden and brass reel with mother of pearl, inlays, and hand-carving. I aspire to own two (one to fish, one to display), I just haven’t ever pulled the trigger on them as they are a luxury item.

Jeff has a 3 3/4 brace faced, its in the pic I posted.
Ah, gotcha. Just saw the same username on the speypages link and made me curious. Plus, it gave me an excuse to ping him since he's not been around the forum much!

He geos by bhudda on Speypages as well, he just doesn't come here much at all anymore.
