Extra pulley DB anchor systems? Good, bad, meh?

An elder friend of mine is outfitting a used DB he bought and is considering an extra pulley on his anchor for ease of lifting. Seems like these double ropes want to twist and jam.

Will be used in rivers and some mild lake fishing too. Thoughts?

PS. I searched but didn't find a thread on this question.

I use a petzl rescue pulley and like it for the heavier anchor.

Yep, swivel pully and another swival at the termination. they would twist up so bad I couldn't drop the anchor, back to a strait pull.

I have been using a straight pull system for over 55 years. I use a 40lb homemade anchor that allows me to anchor my 16 ft alumaweld in places others cant anchor. to raise the anchor , your body weight raises the anchor as you stand up, lean back and face upstream to raise the anchor. All you gotta do is hold on to raise it.

The swivel at the termination is the key! This had me baffled for a while. I have the same one that @SurfnFish has and it still twisted. Which makes it a harder pull! Even got stuck down a couple times.
I installed a simple swivel at the termination end and nearly no twisting. I forget who told me. Maybe it was Paige!

And to answer your question, yes, it definitely eases the load. I've worked at a keyboard for 30 years so prone to get tennis elbow if too much rope pulling. This helps me a lot and the main reason I got one.

Did not like it in faster water due to twist issues, liked it fine in slower water. Still have the one I used on my Clack. Provide your address and I'll send it to you, no charge.

Jeez that's a very kind offer. If my fishin' buddy decides to try this I will reach out to you, but for now you should hang on to it.

Thank you all for your advice too!
