Any pinks yet? Oregon boy has one day to beach fish near Port Angeles

I will be in PA this coming weekend and can carve out one day for a fishing adventure. Last year I fished the Bogey (and got one chinook) but this year I want to try for humpies.

Doesn't sound like the millions have really arrived, but I plan to beach fish at Point Wilson or No Point. Since it's early in the run should I head west instead? Bringing a 7wt with an intermediate line and small pink clousers and little rabbit patterns. Any other suggestions or advice?

High tides. They will show by first week of August.
 
Others are more qualified than myself to judge, but the creel reports show them being caught out of the Ediz boat ramp in PA. Not sure if enough to get them from shore. My daughters had so much fun a couple years ago. Their first salmon on a fly.
 
Theres enough of them in the islands that they're jumping in birch bay. No need to head west. Theyll be there or they wont be but either way it's your micro timing not your macro timing. They're in the area when you're gonna be there.

So I looked at the tide tables and they are rather odd. I've never seen a tide chart like these with no second low tide. There is low in the morning, it comes up in the afternoon...and just keeps going up??!! Thanks a lot Obama!

no real idea, but I always try to get out there when I visit my folks up at Port Townsend...I believe it was August when I hit it right a few years ago. If the beaches are packed with idiots and boats are trolling within your casting range right in front of you, you know it's on!

Looks like the truth is finally coming out. It's a little known in fact that the second daily tidal cycle is a total scam cooked up by scientists to double their research funding.. don't be gullible and fall for their faked tidal data.
 
Well dang it, not looking good for shore fishing. The creel reports show some pinks at the Ediz Hook ramp but none further east.

Ediz doesn't look very wade friendly at high tide. The very tip is not accessible due to CG Airstation?

Does it make sense to go to Point Wilson with no pinks reported in that area?

Any other ideas for tomorrow? Thnx

Yes
On the incoming and fish through slack high into that slow outgoing. That’s is a nice humpy tide in my opinion with the water not moving too fast. Look for porpoising fish coming around the corner.

I was fishing a local MA 10 beach yesterday and saw several pinks caught by the gear guys so no reason to think there won’t be pinks coming through MA-9. Plus there’s always the shot at a Coho in the same places.

Don’t stress. They’re everywhere already, from the mouth of the nisqually to out past the straits.
 
Theres some beach fishing near the mouth of sequim bay. Walk south from Port Williams ramp. Not sure is pinks will be there though, but I know of coho being found there later in the season.

If bet all of creel report fish from Ediz in PA come from a boat.

Almost certainly, if only because the fish checkers are likely doing interviews at the ramp.

They are everywhere though. Saw a "flosser" at hoodsport hatchery with a stringer last Sunday, and hatchery already had 1000 "on hand adults" as of Tuesday per today's escapement reports.
 
I fish out of Pa a lot and have only ever seen the coasties fish the point... Especially early in the king season.

I'm sure you'll get into them... They are everywhere. Have fun man.
