I was at an estate sale and saw this photo as a purchaser was about to remove it from the wall. I snapped a quick phone picture before he took it down. I had seen pictures of platform fishers, but never more than a half dozen per photo. Take a moment to enlarge this photo of the Celilo fishers and study the details. Once the Corps closed the gates of the new dam it took 13 hours to drown this fishery that had lasted for untold centuries.

According to Chelan Co PUD data, the numbers of salmon that crossed Rock Island dam doubled the year after the Celilo Falls fishery was inundated.

The Cedar vs. Willow dipnet argument was a big deal....and whether a 9' handle or 10' handle was better, but everyone knew 12' handles had too much swing weight.
