but my replacement jiggy craw was the best for better fish, and the more destroyed it got the better it worked. Strange how that works sometimes.

Really nice looking flies and fish.
I brought a craw jig with me today (a local bio estimated 8-15k crawdad per river mile in that section) but knew it’d just get gobbed up in weeds.

I do like a muddler, and that one is nice. But cleaning the head does get annoying. They just don't fish well gunked up though.
 
I think that clarkman needs a special thread of "what's hooking you fish'!!!

The guys at Red's turned me on to this fly last year. Oversized tungsten bead and they sink like a rock. It's a PMD pattern but I don't think it really mattered, only that it got down fast in front of the fish. Ran one 2-3ft under a mini chubby this weekend and it accounted for all but a few fish. Nothing big but good fun on 3wt.

After I lost my last black daddy I replaced it with a muddled and bumbled in black. Fantastic.

Same basket 'o fish, just a burst of shots, that was before they laid down, thought it looked funny. Did get two triples, several doubles. The middle fish, I had just replaced the daddy with the muddled, tossed the flies into the riffle to get ready to cast, and it came up for an eat. A couple better sized fish showed up too.

Bought a box of these nasty Daddies last year and they keep saving me. The semi-local hex hatch is always just slightly more complicated than I remember — and the spinner fall happens even on a cool night. Every night? The spinners also don’t wiggle around like the cripples…
