well, shit, if @J Watrous is gonna build some shit, how's about an 8' 9wt?
I'm def following, not sure if I'll be able to make it up there, but would be fun as hell if I can, especially if someone's got some heavy (er) weights!
I've got an 8' 8/9wt and a 7'9" 11wt glass that totally rocks if anyone cares to cast (plus my old standby Bandit 7'9" 10wt)

What is really love to build (after the one I haven’t started yet—ha!) is a 12wt like @Kado built and used for tuna. Man that’s a beautiful rod.
The taper you are considering is called the Granger 7030. I used to own a WM Granger Victory "7030". It was a pleasant rod to cast and fish and from what I can tell it is very popular with the many fans of Granger rods. I ended up selling it because I have a Granger 7633, the 7-1/2' rod which is pretty much my ideal...three piece and IMO is the easiest casting rod I own. You'd love either rod.

Love my Granger 8040 which is an 8' 4 weight rod but can't speak personally to the 7030. Here are some links to in which people say good things about the 7030 on the Classic fly rod forum. "It makes a great small stream rod..." "it is my favorite fod for small streams"

Oh on a different note, I've been talking to David Reid in Idaho and have invited him out to this event! He's interested and will check his schedule.. I want one of his spey rods..
Mike, can I stop by sometime? Would love to see your setup. I've been to Sweetgrass in MT years ago, shortly after they left Winston, so a long time ago. I'll PM my info!

Not all of us can make it down there, but it is a nice idea! If I do end up getting to go, I'm happy to bring my boo rods, but at this point if I get work then I won't be able too!
If I can work it in, I will try to make it for one day and I too will bring a few baboo fly rods.
