Official 2025 CARP (and Capr) thread

Is a fishing license required?
Oregon requires one. I'm a decade removed from Washington now, but I remember Washington having an exemption for carp as far as license requirements.

rad!

Washington changed their regs last year and now require a license for carp.
Not to derail a positive thread, but this is so dumb-

Why the exceptions of Moses Lake and Vancouver Lake? Do they want them harvested more in those waters than others? WDFW are experts at confusion. So @_WW_ not sure why you asked, but if you have someone in mind that didn't want to buy a license tell em to head for Moses Lake or Vancouver.

Because both those lakes are too murky to sight fish for carp.

Love it. This is the year I am going to give carp a try.

I mean, it's kinda true. I've caught carp in a few spots on moses, especially earlier in the season... but sight fishing in either of those lakes is rough. I've tried on Vancouver Lake because I know someone who lives on it. Had carp all over the place right off his back yard (could see them jumping all over) but no amount of time spent there could get me any shots to fish I could spot.

If this is the actual reason for the regs, it would go down as one of the funniest things WDFW has ever done. :ROFLMAO:

Yeah I have no idea. I know both places are LOADED with carp and capr, but beyond what I've stated thus far, have no idea what the reasoning is.
