Sorta fishing-related

FYI, because I just recently heard about this-

I went to the Outdoor Expo in Vancouver today. It wasn’t bad as far as sportsmen’s shows go. The reason I bring it up here is because they had at least 5 fly fishing related outfitters/guides as exhibitors. Which is 5 more than the big shows in Portland and Puyallup have combined.
It was $6 for parking and $10 to get in.

Things are getting spicy in regards to this event. Sounds like WA State attorney general is getting involved. Guy who put the show on is a known scammer and even used an alias when booking people for the event.

In short: Guy booked lots of business and celebrities, nickled and dimed them, said there were 10s of thousands of presale tickets. Went so far as to even lie DURING the event to vendors set up in the back of the center saying "stay put, there's busses with 100s of people showing up now!" Sounds like a real gem.

Just did a quick googler search of his name and lots of posts like this happening all over the intertubes.

You know it's bad when someone buys the domain using your name just to tell people how much of a scam artist you are.

That guy! Oh my gosh I've heard horror guided hunting stories about him for years and years!

This guy is the melfa of guided hunts in western Washington and I hope the law catches up to him!

Reading some of these stories of the grifts he pulls over and over is just astounding. Basically WDFW and the police know all about him, but his "guided hunt" scams technically don't break any laws. People pay him thousands for guided hunts on a private ranch. They show up, and he sticks them in a blind with a 20yd opening in a green belt next to a sketchy neighborhood between houses, busy roads, etc. Crazy what he's gotten away with for so long. Maybe this big sportsman show grift will be what finally gets him in some real trouble.

"The best part is he was either drunk or high, with a lip full of cope and drooling chew spit down his chin onto the card table. When he talked his speech was so slurred I could barely understand what he was saying."

🤣

From that Bowsite thread..."if they paid up front via Venmo, or wire transfer just so they did not have to pay Federal taxes.

The IRS is the big stick. Not paying taxes is the downfall of many criminals/grifters.

This Shane guy is Joe Exotic levels of interesting. I bet a Netflix series on his antics could prove a lucrative endeavor.

My nephew recorded some of the court proceedings. I have a bobble-head of Joe.

Probably not the best idea to scam an event where you give the Sheriff's office a booth🤣🤣🤣

"According to Skidmore, the sheriff’s office also had a booth at the outdoor expo for recruiting efforts and says they paid $500 for their booth. Deputies at the expo did make contact with the event organizer, Shane Barbour, but haven’t been in touch with him further, according to Skidmore."
