What Are You Eating?

The food in a pic is not always self evident as to what it is. It would be a good idea to identify it so the viewer knows for certain. I looked at your first photo and thought, oh, pizza. Then no, that's not it, probably some Italian dish. Then it finally occurred to me that it could be a pile of vomit from ingesting something that shouldn't be eaten in the first place.
It's lasagna and was delicious with homemade pasta and awesome sauce! Not the prettiest dish, presentation wise but better than i make and mine is awesome! Don't judge a dish by its cover!

Quick lunch while cleaning and de-cluttering the house.
Sardines in hot sauce and parsley and cumin chickpeas with I added some Mediterranean feta to. Sorry about the poor photo quality of the cans. 😂

Canned sardines are an underutilized item…we used to heat them with sautéed onions, soy sauce and cilantro and serve over hot rice

Dashi…konbu & katsuobushi (kelp & dried, smoked & shaved skip jack Salmo_G)
I do appreciate that, cuz otherwise it could be simmered Martian for all I know. Two questions: first about skp jack. Never had it nor been interested because I was under the impression that it tasted about like mackeral, which is bleh! Not so? And are those two separate dishes, or is the kelp and skip jack mixed with the beef and onions? Help a guy make sense of this please.

Skip Jack tuna is a bit darker and higher oil content than ahi…it is my favorite tuna to make poke from…does not taste like mackerel at all.

The dashi, after the water is brought to a boil with the kelp, the heat is turned off and the shaved dried tuna is added and steeped like tea for 15 minutes, then strained…ithe broth added to a bowl of udon noodles, with soy sauce, mirin and sugar for flavor…then the simmered beef is add to the top of the bowl

Oh, well then; I love lasagna, and it tastes 10x better than it looks.

Didn't want to do a new thread, and this seemed to be an appropriate place to post this! If not, I can delete.

Do you toss out the tuna flakes after steeping ?

Quick pickled green beans and pickles! Not sure how long the pickles will take, not going to hurry them though. Garlic and peppercorns in both, a little salt. Equal parts of white vinegar and warm water! Should be great! I par boiled the beans and did an ice bath to stop them cooking.
