Wait...what??
Who's in charge of the cookie exchange? And who will I trade flies with for a bobber...I mean a Seegerator?
Yup, sorry, wife had total knee replacement, so I am repaying her for all the nursing she has done for me.

This will be the first time in 9 years of not being there... but playing the long game for a great wife.

If you need a SeegerCator shoot me a DM

Tight lines!

Shawn hopefully the wife's knee is quick to heal. I have a small procedure that was fortunately scheduled after opening without me having to insert, "I won't be available."

Are the rest of the regulars planning on attending?

P.S. for all those that are going to trespass to launch their boats by driving on the adjacent property... 3 guys have gotten stuck - ground is soft and wet. 1 guy had to get a tow truck, to get him out and 2 others had to get buddies to unstick them... a word to the wise!

I always wondered if that was private. So many people do it.
Me and my buddy are staying in an Airbnb in Ellensburg so will be there in the morning. Weather looks great!
If you see 2 dudes in a little Striker raft come say hi.
Tight lines!

thanks for the heads up on trespassing. I usually drop off the boat and then leave the vehicle in the parking lot.

Beautiful weather, but maybe too nice. A little slow today. The theme we heard and agree with today was "not quite like last year."

Our boat caught 30 and only 1 was 17". We had 1 at 16" and a couple really nice 15". Most were 13-14" cookie cutters. Some even smaller.

Lots of mats of algae & vegetation in the water. More than I've ever seen in March, especially March 1st. Gonna be a tough spring & summer for this lake.

Only had 2 doubles, but they were back to back! Had to take tequila shots for those.😁

This one was so shiny you can see the green reflection of the raft.

First time bobber fishing for my buddy. He knows the secret now...Just look away or reach for a snack & the bobber will probably go down. 😁

We'll see what tomorrow brings...

Yes, the property to the west (towards the Columbia) is Private Property.

Thanks for the first day pictures and report! Really missing being there.

Fished a general regs lake on Saturday with @Irafly and @Yardus

Boat access was an issue due to partial ice cover but we got creative launching and found some fish in the open water areas. No hatches observed, unless you count daphnia. Fish were podded up and moving. Choke points were good for anchoring up and indicator fishing. We shared the available water with a few others, mostly fly fishing. First time seeing perch there (n)

Weather was phenomenal. I can’t remember the last March 1 when I wasn’t fully bundled up.

Nice perch! And another Troutpocket/Irafly double in the net (Or Yardus/Irafly or Yardus/Troutpocket). ;-)

Any word on how Amber Lake is fishing? I now live 700 miles away from it, but have great memories of fishing Amber on the opening!
