I have seen one of these. Pics of my son's first marlin (trolling gear) in Baja. I have not hooked one yet.

I've caught striped marlin on flies. Very very fun. But not technically challenging - if you are in the right place at the right time and find a slow moving bait ball you will hook marlin. Though I only know of one right place/time. Very fun, visual fight - lots of runs and tail walking.

Golden trevally are on the list - next winter.
