NFR Snow Shred Season 2024 - 2025

Non-fishing related
Skied a few runs on some small bumps. Body knows what to do, skies are great, just need some muscle and more overall fitness.

Sprortin' the retro look.

Everyone is getting it, the oldest is ready, and we'll be on country roads next time.

Today was glorious; cold but calm and sunny, freshly groomed tracks, and nice rolling terrain in the Stampede pass vicinity plus a tour along the Lake Keechelus RR grade.

I stopped by the lake to watch a Bald Eagle pick something off the water- you can barely make out the bird just below the outflow tower in the distance. The lake is just starting to ice up.

We could sure use more snow.

Great day, even had lunch in the sun on the deck. I was wrong, like grandpa he's not much at ball sports, but the older one is taking to skis like a duck to water. Skied the triple nickel chair most of the day.

Got to get him out of the terain park and onto the upper mountain. He was doing 3-4 jumps a run, and I really don't want him to turn out like Hans. (not appropriate for all)

Skied Brundage today. It was a cold start to the day, -17 driving through New Meadows but +5 when I got to the mountain.

Conditions were... meh. Like pretty much everywhere else in the region, it's been a long time since any new snow. On the positive side, the mountain was pretty empty between the low temps and lack if fresh snow. I never waited in a lift line and got a lot of runs in.

I am a non-denominational skier, partaking in many types. One of my favorites is classic skiing. It’s the same motion as walking but ripping km’s fast and efficiently is soooo nuanced. It came together pretty good for me on Sunday and I ended up staying out for a while at my home resort (Tahoe Donner cross country). On Monday I tossed my back out emptying the dishwasher. My kid has a Nordic race in Mammoth tomorrow and we are spending the weekend. I will be lurking not skiing.
Gonna be a wild weather week here.

Firm in the morning but loosend in the afternoon
Ripping fast groomers
I spent the last sunny day at White Pass for a while. Wanted to try out my new skis before tomorrow’s powder day. Bought my last skis 20+ years ago and they served me well. For a while, I was drifting away from skiing, until my wife told me that she didn’t want to listen to me whining about not skiing enough when we are old. The new skis are very easy to turn and hold an edge through icy patches. Like @rotato said, the groomers were ripping fast in the morning and only a little bit softer in the afternoon. New snow is overdue. IMG_4746.jpeg

This movie drove my life more than any Greg Stump or Warren Miller movie did.

Hot Dog was the best of the best!

I had Sunny right side up,
I had Sunny upside down.
I had sunny,
every which way around!

Nice!
The views of Rainer from white are awesome

Today was very nice at White Pass. Only 3 inches of new overnight, but the overnight wind helped fill in the West Ridge bowls in Paradise Basin. Sun breaks and snow showers during the day kept the runs nice all day. I skied Saturday with my great niece and nephew and conditions were great. Fun to be in the mountains this time of year. 76029425624__CB311EB9-F4F2-4929-93C0-4EA320C5A6C3.jpeg

Decent snow at Alpental yesterday. There was enough to make for a really fun few hours. Still lots of ugly ice patches up there once it got scraped off though. I need to sharpen up the edges of the fat skis again!
