Prior to departing for a self-contained solo bicycle tour in Alaska and the Yukon Territories an Inuit acquaintance gave me a gift...a traditional Alaskan bear repellent her people sprinkled around their tents, insisting that she was worried about me and that I must follow her peoples' ancient ways.
