Lake etiquette very poor today

I was out there today with an inflatable raft, green two person, with my wife in the front, and have a truck but didn’t get on the water until around 12:30-12:45. I read the first line and started feeling bad for some reason like I ruined someone’s day but then I kept reading and remembered I didn’t talk to anyone except a nice guy in a small pram when I first launched. There were two other guys when I was there. Both in pontoons one on the highway side and another deep in the back. I wanted to practice rowing so we rowed around the entire lake while my wife just trolled and caught a few. Sorry your outing got scrooged!

No sir, it was definitely not you.....Thank you though. This all happened before anyone else but the two of us were out there. I did see you and your wife in the raft while I was tucked into the shore on the highway just having some soup.Your raft caught my eye because I thought it might be a good option for my wife and I except I can see myself doing all the rowing..!! I actually had a good couple of hours before the other guy showed up and got in my bubble. I just needed to vent to like minded folks that I knew would understand,

All,

Please don’t be this guy at Pass Lake today.

I have been waiting for a weather window and looking forward to sneaking out to Pass. I get on the water about 7:45am and start hooking/ landing fish. (They were very close to the surface by the way.) Anyway, I am over by the point( on the Highway side) and I see I guy show up with an inflatable raft. He works his way down the shoreline on the Highway side, so I go into the bay and position myself so that I can cast both away and towards shore. The guy keeps getting closer and about 30 feet away behind me when I say to him. “ I am going to hit you with my back cast.” He says to me, “ I couldn’t see you with my hood up.”……like really dude, pay attention. He then proceeds over to the corner of the bay to work the shore about 25 yards from me…..again, like WTF dude…? It was definitely worthy of a verbal assault. Not to mention the guy had 4 rods strung up and catching anything to boot…..you have all seen the type.

We have all this lake to ourselves and he has to come within 30 feet of me…..not cool dude.

It was the river equivalent of “ low holing”.

I felt like posting his truck and license plate, but won’t this time.

Honestly, some folks have not got any clue…..

Wow, you are a much better man than I am.
Last July I had a similar experience at a pay for play lake in Canada. Great Callibaetis hatch casting to shore then back out across the drop off, lots of fish. Things were going most excellent until this GUMBA tries to pass me on the shoreward side.
Pretty sure the wire brush loaded with expletives that I threw at him granted me extra time in Purgatory. Later that same day he tried to joke with me about the incident which gave us both a chance to reconcile the moment. Probably a good thing that my boat did not have torpedoes in the moment. Ha!

In recent years I've experienced very little bad behavior...of course that's because I'm generally fishing with @iveofione on one of our NE OLP lakes...and we're most often the only ones on the lake.
Generally, folks are very cordial at Pass. I find it ironic that Mr Over the Top fly fisherman with his 4 rods rigged wasn't catching a darn thing........ever seen or heard those Bud light commercials, " Today we salute you Mr Over The Top Fly Guy"....LOL

If I’m the only guy out there and I’m catching fish, I’m inviting other people over, not waiting for them to ask for help, as soon as they show up. I’ll also have 7 rods rigged, not 4, what an amateur. Because of this, I will row near people assuming that on Washington’s most popular fly fishing only lake right near a loud ass highway that they are also friendly and want to chat, versus wanting to be left alone in peace and quiet. I’m not waiting though if they don’t offer friendliness and information right away after I greet them, I’ll start peppering them right away with questions. If that doesn’t work, I’ll fish close enough to watch presentations.

I know you came here to complain for a sympathetic ear, but it sure sounds to me like you ruined your own experience by letting the event get under your skin.

Ira, I am glad I know you and appreciate your humor.......I will have try those techniques.....😂😂😂

It did irritate me a bit and I just wanted to vent because the guy was so clueless.....it was actually pretty active before he got there.

I do like the idea of inviting guys to sit in the boat with me. My sumabitch would be if they say no. Just a thought, over friendliness might work better to distance others from you than vinegar. Isn’t the saying “You catch more flies/fish with honey than vinegar”?

Guys without ear plugs, do tend to keep their distance from me on the water.

I’m just hard of hearing and use it to my advantage. Whether I can hear them or not, after asking them to repeat themselves a dozen times, they usually give up and leave. 😆
SM I don't think you were there at Aeneas the day of the ghetto blaster. Think that was Lewis and me 😡

Buddy and I were in my boat fishing a small bay last summer. A guy stops up on the road and unloads his stuff and proceeds to hike down the hillside to the bay. So far its fine. Its the one spot tubers/inflatable can hike down to a decent fishing area as the road is only 1/4 mile from the water. Then he gets down to the bank and gets in the water directly where my buddy on the back of the boat is casting. My buddy hooks a fish and luckily it ran by the guy in his tube and not around him. We politely asked him if he could move away from us a bit as he was sitting right where we'd been casting. To which he replies "guys I am sorry I didn't realize you were there.' Gimme a break. He walked a 1/4 mile down the open hillside right at us. No way he didn't see us. At least he did move 100 yards away.

He saw you alright, but he did at least apologize to deescalate the situation......
