College Football 2024

That is a bummer for the Cougs. He did a nice job there. Not sure WF is a big step up, but he probably saw the writing on the wall that the PAC 2, even with expansion was going to be way behind when it comes to NIL and players you developed leaving for $$$! via the portal like their QB.

2 qbs in 2 years, this is now the way in college.
Already the current NIL system is failing, as players opting out of bowl games, entering the portal before the CFP and not playing in playoff games is going to be the new norm.
Marshall had to opt out of a bowl game as so many players entered the portal they couldn't field a team.
 
So is Dickert staying and coaching the Holiday Bowl? Read a couple articles but didn’t say, Usually AD’s want then gone immediately but not so sure Wazu has the coaching bodies to
do so…. ?

This needs to change...the pendulum has swung way too far when so many players leave a school they cannot even play a game...

I highly doubt it, especially with the portal being open and needing to recruit from it.
Probably also trying to get his house listed and make a Goodwill donation.
I agree, most ADs would want them gone.

Revenue sharing will be the next big thing to hit as part of the House vs NCAA settlement.
That starts next year. There will be a bit over $20 million for all sports, with about $15 going to football.
It’s not a bad time to be a college football player. Scholarship, NIL and now revenue sharing. It will be interesting to see how they divide that pool of money up amongst the players.

Was looking forward to watching a bit of the Cal - UNLV game tonight just to find out Cal starting qb went in the portal with 2,340 other players so far this year and will not be playing tonight. Okay but then the backup also went into the portal so they are in a bowl game starting their third string qb. Yeah!!!! Not watching now.
 
Yeah watching Christmas with the Kranks but no football Don’t care to check in on it either. One viewer down !!! 😂

Just before the good old boys in the NCAA kept a tight leash on things and kept all the money for themselves. After a decade of fighting the players, they lost, shit collapsed, and a hasty patchwork was put together to keep things afloat.
It's the American way...gotta keep the money flowing.

Georgia's QB looks to be out for the CFP.
So their chances in their game next week plummeted, and Notre Dame's chances to advance, should they win today, got better.
Snow on the ground there, so should be an interesting game.

Any thoughts on how things might go...

May the teams have enough players to field a team (some do not).
May the teams have enough quality players remaining to be competitive.
May the referees allow the players to play.
May the announcers stay quiet or at least not hurt the watching of a game.
May there be hard, clean hits and no one gets injured.
 
As far as the rest of the First Round goes, I’m rooting (and think they have a chance) of SMU upsetting the Penn St…Texas will beat Clemson…and the toughest of the opening games will be Tenn at Ohio St…that one is a coin toss, but I suspect they will be singing Rocky Top at the Shoe, which will mean Ryan Day will be looking for a new job…
 
Day pretty much has to win to keep his job I think. I also think he will win...and not a fan of him or OSU, so it pains me to say this.

Well they will have their work cut out for them, but hopefully it'll be a good game to watch...
Winner goes against Georgia, so the softest of landings in the second round it looks like.
 
Wazzu Cougs have 23 players including 11 starters, one of which is qb Mateer entering the transfer portal plus the coach is leaving. Even with all that they are still committed to the Holiday Bowl. Gonna be an interesting game. Go Cougs !
 
I like the state of disarray the NCAA football program has become.
Players shuffling around trying to make good choices and some coin.
Coaches jocking for the max payout they can find.
Sport agents gobbling up as much commission as they can muster.

Their true colors come shining through.
