Pass lake algae

they say Cranberry just got stocked with jumbos (just like Beaver).
just sayin'
you say’n Cranberry got some 2 1/2 pounders, too?

All I’m see’n on the plant report are the 1+ pounders from October.

Is it open because testing has stopped and its up to visitors to fish at their own risk, or is it open because the water is safe now?

I’m guessing it’s your first choice….use at your own risk.

That said, I went today…so far no gut bugs or shitcicles👍…and the algae wasn’t bad at all.
Perhaps a fishing report if you went fishing? ;-)

Ha! Fair enough. I haven’t shared or contributed in a long time and Pass is no secret....but ya better get your parking place early for the next week or so.

I had a Tim Lockhart day. :)

Easily my best winter time outing in all the years I've been going there. Had double digits by 9:38 and ended up with over 20 by 2. I don't recall ever netting twenty there in my life.

Only 3 or so were little guys, the rest were solid and fiesty. Most were chrome but a few were in pretty spawning colors. All were rainbowsIMG_E8078[1].JPG

After a while I focused on trying to get a brown. I lost prolly 8 or 10 streamers doing so and had a couple follows but that was it.

One follow was just as good as hooking up. It was a beauty of a brown, nice yellow belly and hefty. It was closing in on my streamer with his mouth open but saw me and veered off....never to be seen again. Dang it 😖

I was stripping and jigging an olive & maroon leech...all day...nothing special and nothing I haven't done there a gazillion times...they just weren't hook shy after the long closure.

In addition to the fishing, the eagles were ready and waiting to help themselves if ya weren't paying attention.

There was what I'm guessing was an immature heron ( with splotchy white wings) hanging out with mom or dad.

And a big ole fat beaver who couldn't be bothered as he was chowing down not far from his lodge.

Worst of all, the dastardly otters were still there. I'm pretty sure they were working on an attack plan. I was lucky to get away with my life....you all better heed my warning and stay away.

That was an otterly great report. Thx for sharing.
Little devils were at Munn a couple weeks ago. Thankfully they left me alone

I think they drive in pairs….one to steer and stuff and the other to work the pedals😏

and I gotta say, after the crazy otter attacks this past summer, I was a wee bit concerned when meeting up with them this afternoon. 🤪🤪

Never thought about it much before…usually there are four that travel together at Pass. This afternoon, I only saw two of them. I heard at least one other peeping/ chirping but couldn’t tell where it was.

Hadta chuckle cuz I was near a snag that was leaning over the water. I could see the two near the base of the tree and I caught myself looking up into the dead tree for the third and fourth ones…like they were Jaguars or panthers that were gonna drop outa the tree on me 🙄.

I was Steven Seagal ready tho

The River Otters at Pass are so cool. A ranger once told me that they cross the road from Rosario Beach. I think that Pass Lake is like a freshwater resort for them. No fear from predators, plenty of crawfish and trout, and just heavenly, moss covered rocks for them to enjoy frolicking in the sun with their family members. Once I spied one taking tree branches up into the forest in the small cove just to the left of the launch. I assumed he was making a shelter. When I see them, I often think that they will "scare away" the trout, but that does not seem to be the case.

Thanks for the report Mike.
I know where the browns hang out.
